Our 289 Powered 1967 Mustang Convertible Project Car

Following is our Car's Codes

VIN and other producton codes for this car

History of the Car::

To make a long story a little shorter, this car has been owned by my wife for 14-years.  She purchased this car when she lived in New Jersey and when she moved to Pennsylvania the PA inspection required repairs to the floor pans and my wife decided to put the car in storage in 1992.  The car spent 10-years covered in a dry barn and we pulled it out of the barn two years ago planning to restore her.  Well, two years have passed and we have not managed to find the time to start the project so we have decided to sell her to someone else that has the time and resources to bring her back to her glory.

About the Car:

The car is in good mechanical shape as the engine starts and runs fine, the transmission, brakes, and other components of the driveline all work fine.  The engine could use a tune-up but for a car that we have run a couple times a year to keep thinks lubed I think that a tune up could be expected.  What this car requires the the obvious body work that the old Mustangs are known for.  This car has solid floors in the back and trunk but the front floor pans are showing rust, the front torque boxes have a good deal of rust and the quarter panels have rust starting under the paint which can be seen in the pictures.

The car features what we understand to be the original C-Code 289 V-8, C4 Transmission, and Deluxe Hood with working turn signal indicators.  The car also has power steering and brakes.  The top of the convertible is a power top and the top could use replacement but it doesn't have any major holes in it so it would protect the car while someone worked to restore her.  Following are a series of photos that I just took of the car that shows the car in as much detail as I think I can share.

When looking at the photos below you will notice that the front left fender is a different color.  This is due to the only accident that we are aware of that this car was involved in and in that accident a deer ran into the side of the car and dented the original fender.  WE HAVE THE ORIGINAL FENDER and it will be included with the car s you can either repair the dent in the original or use the one on the car when you get her painted

Terms and Conditions:

This is an auction and in such all sales are final.  We encourage any bidder to contact us and to make arrangements to see the car (or have someone else look at it for you) before you bid.  We are willing to help you load the car onto your trailer or work with a carriage company that you find.  If you live local and you lack a way to pick-up the car, I am willing to help with delivery at your expense including renting a U-Haul car carrier and delivering it (You pay trailer rental and gas both ways).  Finally, payment is expected within 2-weeks of the close of the auction.

Update 08-Feb-2004 2:00 EST

I have received a number of E-mails asking for more detail about the floors and underside.  To answer the questions, there are no holes that pass from the interior to the outside of the car but the metal in the floor pans is rusted and likely would need to be replaces.  The torque boxes, as mentioned above are rusty and I have taken a number of photos that follow that show as much of the bottom of the car as I can,  I was also asked about the trunk area and the trunk is in very good shape as you can see in the photos.  Another individual asked about the gauges and the heat and I believe everything is working.  At a minimum the speedometer, temp, and oil gauges seem to work fine and I can see changes while the car runs.  As for the heat, I confirmed that all the knobs for the heat settings still work and the cars heater blows heat.  The air flow out of the defroster seems a little light but their is air coming out of her.
