VIN Number

I am not understanding my VIN Number - here it is 5F07T710989. I am trying to figure out how the last 6 digits are 710989 - that is supposed to be the unit production number - however I see the only produced just over 500000 Mustangs in 65. Any help on understanding this??

vin number and production number

Karen,

From April of 1964 (hence the '64 1/2 mustang - which came out in the middle of the model year) to August of 1965 there were over 700,000 Mustangs produced. In the 1st 18 month of production they produced over 1 million.

All 64 1/2 and 65's start VIN with "5". so you are the 710,989 mustang to roll off the assembly line.
